360 Security will ensure that nothing malicious lurks in your web or download files. It can block access to suspicious websites, check the history of your browser, track the amount of data you’re using and even locate the phone you’ve lost.
The suite includes the firewall and data shredder, as well as tools for cleaning your system on a scheduled basis. It can update drivers automatically, has anti-tracking features and even grants you privileged technical support access with just one click.
The interface of the program is easy and user-friendly, even though there are many options and settings. Most things are controlled by large buttons, switches or checkmark, which is a good thing for ergonomics. The program is free and available for both Windows and Mac.
The antivirus itself does a decent job of protecting your computer from malware. Its real-time security detects more than 90% of threats and it didn’t generate any false positives in my tests. It’s not as robust in level detection as other leading products when it comes to the scanning of files and heuristics.
360 Total Security offers a number of additional security and maintenance functions, including a VPN, which is only available in the premium version. Its heuristic engine detects malware by looking at a program’s behavior, which could be extremely useful in cases where the threat is new and doesn’t have a signature. The program comes with a “clean-up utility, as well as other tune-up programs that can enhance PC performance.
